CtCCCC are delighted to announce an exciting XII ahead of their first ever East Anglian fixture this coming Saturday.
Most excitingly we welcome Thomas Brian Doble, founding cyclist but first time cricketer, to the fray. Alongside Hugh Pemberton, playing his first red ball game for the club since Portugal, five of the six founding members are in the team, with only Ed Pearson missing out. The other significant group within the XII are the so-called 'Bristol Mafia' - friends of Rory from Bristol who enjoy an often unseasy relationship with the rest of the squad. In the past the impact of this has been limited by a cap on their numbers, however the addition of club debutante Tom Jelly for this fixture brings the number to five, which has raised concerns in some quarters of the club. Nonetheless we are looking forward to welcoming Jelly's military medium into the club. It is also worth nothing just who is absent from the side, and the one name that stands out is 'Cassels'. Ben has played all 8 of the clubs XI aside fixtures and Ed has played all since missing out on selection for the clubs first game in Portugal. Between them they have scored 22% of the sides runs*, with Ed scoring over half of those despite being widely recognised as the older, better looking, cleverer, nicer but ultimately worse cricketer than Ben. Without our usual opening batsmen rumours are circulating that Shaw may be given an opportunity at the top of the order, despite scoring a total of two runs from his four appearences for the club. The CtCCCC XII is as follows: 1. Davidson; 2. Dean; 3. Dillon; 4. Doble; 5. Dorgan; 6. Gimson; 7. Hammond; 8. Hesketh; 9. Jelly; 10. Pemberton; 11. Shaw; 12. Rudkin Snr *extras excluded
