Not really news, but this video of us playing cricket on German TV deserves to be on the website.
We were cycling through Bavaria (Lord's to Ljubljana) when we came across a charming village called Momart. It so happened at this very moment Momart was being filmed for a TV feature... having been randomly selected live on TV just a few days previously (apparently quite a big deal in Germany, the program had been going for over 20 years) and it resulted in possibly the finest ever CtCCCC moment. See the full clip here - highlights include John declaring this the best village in Germany and Davo bowling a full toss.

It is with great delight CtCCCC can confirm the final squad for the autumn PlayOn sports league.
The club move forward with the core of the squad retained from the LMS season with only Dillon making himself unavailable. Messrs Dorgan, Davidson and Shaw have stepped up to full member status from half, while Rudkin Jr, Conway, Cass Sr, Rutt and Nunez decide to take things easy for the autumn and move in the opposite direction. Most excitingly however are three new additions to squad. As already announced Guy 'Skuttler' Skinner joins us via The Philanderers CC and we're delighted to confirm today that Eric Heath and Rhys Brennan join from 'And That's Stumps'. We hope all three will enjoy long and successful careers with the club. Full (c.6-9 matches): Cassels Jnr; Davidson; Dean; Dorgan; Hammond; Shaw; Skinner (someone paid on 17/09 but not sure who) Half (c.3-5 matches): Pemberton (paid); Rudkin Snr; Bhrennan (paid); Cassels Snr; Conway; Gimson; Heath (paid); Nunez; Rudkin Jr; Rutt (paid) Full fixtures online and below. CtCCCC are delighted to announce a high profile new recruit in the form of part-time DJ, physics nerd, cockroach and full-time cricket badger Guy 'Skuttler' Skinner for the indoor season.
A CtCCCC source said "We're delighted to welcome such an enthusiastic and young cricket to the squad. Guy's dependability at the top of the order will provide a pleasing contrast to the inconsistencies of our engine room, and he provides competition behind the stumps as well. Whilst he has only signed a short term winter contract, we hope this is the start of a long and fruitful relationship between Guy and CtCCCC. My only concern is his ability to skuttle effectively in indoor cricket". Reaction to Skuttler's signing has been mixed within the squad, with both Hugh Pemberton and Rory Davidson said to feel threatened by a more talented DJ joining the ranks, however Si Shaw was in more bullish mood about his prospects with the gloves. He said "I'm the best keeper in this squad and that's not up for debate, I could stand up to Rutt as well, I just chose not to". Ben Cassels chumpily added "Good signing!". Allegations of poaching from The Philanderers are strongly denied by the CtCCCC committee. Sadly our second and final match of the season was rained off without a ball being bowled. Notable only for Ben Cassels maintaining his 100% appearance record despite choosing to play rugby instead. We now move on to focus on the indoor season and build-up to tour.
CtCCCC are delighted to announce an exciting XII ahead of their first ever East Anglian fixture this coming Saturday.
Most excitingly we welcome Thomas Brian Doble, founding cyclist but first time cricketer, to the fray. Alongside Hugh Pemberton, playing his first red ball game for the club since Portugal, five of the six founding members are in the team, with only Ed Pearson missing out. The other significant group within the XII are the so-called 'Bristol Mafia' - friends of Rory from Bristol who enjoy an often unseasy relationship with the rest of the squad. In the past the impact of this has been limited by a cap on their numbers, however the addition of club debutante Tom Jelly for this fixture brings the number to five, which has raised concerns in some quarters of the club. Nonetheless we are looking forward to welcoming Jelly's military medium into the club. It is also worth nothing just who is absent from the side, and the one name that stands out is 'Cassels'. Ben has played all 8 of the clubs XI aside fixtures and Ed has played all since missing out on selection for the clubs first game in Portugal. Between them they have scored 22% of the sides runs*, with Ed scoring over half of those despite being widely recognised as the older, better looking, cleverer, nicer but ultimately worse cricketer than Ben. Without our usual opening batsmen rumours are circulating that Shaw may be given an opportunity at the top of the order, despite scoring a total of two runs from his four appearences for the club. The CtCCCC XII is as follows: 1. Davidson; 2. Dean; 3. Dillon; 4. Doble; 5. Dorgan; 6. Gimson; 7. Hammond; 8. Hesketh; 9. Jelly; 10. Pemberton; 11. Shaw; 12. Rudkin Snr *extras excluded As we come to the end of our sixth season, one that has seen us dramatically increase the activity of the club, it feels like now is the time to launch a website. To what gain, or even what purpose, is not clear - but let's see where it takes us.
